Louis Foster signs up for British F4 with Double R Racing

25th January 2019

2018 Ginetta Junior Rookie Champion, Louis Foster, will progress to British F4 this year as the 15-year old British driver makes his first step into single-seaters with Double R Racing.

Progressing from karts to make his debut in cars last year, Louis Foster instantly made an impact on the BTCC support series as he dominated the Ginetta Junior Championship. Taking nine sensational wins across the season, including five on the bounce, Louis finished the year as the highest points scorer but had to settle for the Rookie Champion title and the runner’s up spot as dropped points meant he missed out on the championship title by just eight points.

This year will see Louis join the Woking-based Double R Racing outfit as he takes his first stride on the FIA single-seater pyramid. The F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost is one of the highlights of the TOCA package and where Louis will once again be showing his talent to tens of thousands of fans trackside and millions of viewers at home – as the series is broadcast live on ITV4.

For 2019, Louis will team up with the front-running Double R Racing squad who last year helped Kiern Jewiss to secure the British F4 Drivers’ Championship and also guided Linus Lundqvist to the BRDC British F3 title.

Delighted to make the move into British F4, Louis is thrilled to be racing with Double R but remains aware of the challenge ahead.

“I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be joining Double R for the 2019 British F4 Championship. The team are proven winners and have all the capability of delivering a championship winning car. Seeing how successful they were last season in F4 and in F3, it fills me with a lot of confidence as I make my debut in single-seaters.”
“Making the step from Ginetta Junior to F4 is going to be a tricky one, but I’m confident in my abilities and with the expert guidance of the Double R team, there’s no reason we can’t be fighting at the front this season.”

Anthony Hieatt is thrilled to have Louis join the Double R ranks and is confident of what they can achieve together.

“It’s fantastic news to be able to confirm Louis as a Double R driver for 2019 and we’re all looking forward to working with him during the coming season”, said Hieatt, “We were super impressed with his performances in Ginetta Junior last year and have no doubt he’s going to be an incredibly competitive driver in his first season in British F4 with us.
“Obviously, last season was fantastic for Double R winning both the British F4 and BRDC British Formula 3 titles and we’re determined to battle every bit as hard again this year. Louis is a great young prospect and we’re delighted he’ll be racing in Double R colours in 2019.”

Barry Mears, MB Partners’ Motorsport Manager, believes Louis has the ability to be a front-runner in his debut season in British F4.

“Louis is a fantastic driver and teaming up with Double R makes for a really strong partnership. Louis’ development in Ginetta last year was phenomenal and he got better and better every time he got in the car. I have no doubt that Louis will be able to replicate that this year and it won’t be long until we see him battling at the front-end for wins and podiums.”

The first race of the ten-round British F4 season gets underway on April 6th on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.
