Louis Foster’s memorable year has continued with the news that the 16-year-old British Formula 4 star has been named as one of the four finalists to become the new Porsche GB Junior.
Foster is joined in the final four by fellow British F4 competitor Luke Browning, Ginetta GT4 Supercup racer Harry King and Ginetta Junior frontrunner Lorcan Hanafin. Forty applications were whittled down to an original shortlist of ten who were all interviewed recently at the Porsche Experience Centre. After impressing at the interview stage, the final quartet will now head to Silverstone next week for the all-important shootout.
One of the largest prizes in UK motorsport, the Porsche GB Junior winner receives an extensive two-year support programme that includes financial backing, bespoke physical training, technical advice and much more. To date, all three previous winners of the Porsche GB Junior shootout have gone on to win the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship.
Foster has backed up an impressive debut season in cars where he finished as runner-up in the Ginetta Junior Championship with an even more impressive maiden campaign in British Formula 4 in 2019. Sampling his first ever taste of single-seaters this year, the Double R racer picked up six wins, twelve podiums, six pole positions and nine fastest-laps on his way to third position in the Drivers’ Championship.
Grateful for the opportunity, 16-year-old Foster cannot wait to get to grips with the new Porsche machinery next week at Silverstone.
“It is a real privilege to be in this position. It will be a good shootout – there’s no doubt that there is some really tough competition but as always, I’ll be giving it my all to win it. I’ve been a massive Porsche fan all my life and I just love the car. It is a real opportunity for me next week and one I want to really make the most of.”
