Title winner Foster fully focused on Indy NXT finale

Louis Foster heads to Nashville for the last race of the Indy NXT by Firestone season this weekend, as the champion of the series already.

Andretti Global driver Foster, 21, wrapped up the title in Milwaukee on August 31 after his seventh win in 13 races.

The final round takes place on an oval just outside of one of America’s most vibrant and exciting cities, but Foster still feels there is a lot to achieve in the last round.

“The championship might be wrapped up but we still have two major goals this weekend,” says Foster, who is backed by Copart, a global leader in online auto auctions.
“The first is to go out and put on a strong performance for all the people who have helped me in my career so far and of course the whole Andretti team. It was a great achievement securing the Championship with 1 race to go and to get the job done for all my team and Sponsors, especially Copart, who have backed me since 2019 and continue to be by my side.
“They’ve all been crucial in getting the championship over the line and finishing the year with a good performance would feel like the best way to end my Indy NXT career with them on a high note before we enter the next chapter.
“The second goal is to approach this as another opportunity to do our job, to impress people in the IndyCar paddock as we aim to be on that grid next year, and to show everyone that even though the title might be won, we’re going about this as professionals approaching it like any other race.”

The Nashville oval is new to all the drivers in the series including Foster as the series hasn’t raced on it in recent years.

It’s a fast, 1.34-mile tri-oval, and when the teams went testing there last month, Foster was fastest.

He feels well prepared as although there has been a weekend break between events, Foster has been working as hard as ever.

“People might think we’d use this time between Milwaukee and Nashville purely for a break or celebrations, but that couldn’t be further from the truth,” adds Foster.
“For a couple of months now we’ve transitioned my training to add some things that are going to help me be better prepared for IndyCar, so that when we come to next season we’ve had a good head start on being ready,” Foster adds.
“That means working just as hard as ever before on my training. Just because we’ve won Indy NXT, we have a bigger goal and that means we’re putting even more effort into next season already.”

In the UK you’ll be able to watch Louis race on Sky Sports F1 channel with the race broadcast live on Sunday at 4.50pm UK time.
