Louis Foster steps up to BRDC British F3 with Double R Racing in 2020

31st January 2020

MB Partners are proud to announce that British F4 star Louis Foster will be taking yet another step forward in his promising junior career in 2020 as he graduates to the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship with Double R Racing for the upcoming season. The talented 16-year-old will be making the transition into the UK’s premier single-seater series after enjoying a memorable debut season in British F4 in 2019.

The next chapter of Louis’ successful junior career will see the Hampshire-based talent team up once more with Double R Racing. Louis and the Woking-based outfit will be looking to build on a partnership that reaped great rewards in 2019 as Louis claimed six wins, twelve podiums, five pole positions and eight fastest laps across a memorable maiden campaign in single-seaters which saw the youngster finish third in the British F4 Championship.

The BRDC British Formula 3 Championship enjoys an excellent pedigree in supporting young drivers as they seek to take their careers to the pinnacle of international motorsport. Previous alumni include current Formula One stars Lando Norris and George Russell and the new season looks set to be one of the most demanding yet with an upgraded car package awaiting 2020’s entrants.

The decision to embark upon his first season in the UK’s highest category of single-seater competition sees Louis continue his rapid progress up the junior motorsport ladder. In what will be his third year of competition in cars, Louis will once again likely be one of the series’ youngest competitors. While the Lord Wandsworth College student is aware that the new campaign represents a big step to take, in typical style Foster is determined to get to grips with the new BRDC British F3 car and make his impact within the Championship.

“I am incredibly excited to be stepping into the BRDC British F3 Championship in 2020. Debuting in single-seaters last year taught me so much and I feel a much more rounded driver as a result. BRDC British F3 represents the pinnacle of the single-seater ladder in the UK, you only have to look at the names of who has enjoyed success in the series previously to understand how incredibly high the standard within this Championship is.”
“For the third year in a row, I’ll be graduating to the next rung of the ladder but I’m delighted to be doing so alongside Double R Racing. I loved working with the team last year, built great relationships and enjoyed plenty of success along the way. I’ve got a lot of hard work ahead of me to familiarise myself with the new machinery but I’m really motivated to get to grips with it as quickly as possible and working with Double R again will only help with that.”

Double R Racing’s Team Principal, Anthony Hieatt, is glad to be working with Louis once more and is excited by what the youngster can achieve moving forward.

“Louis had a hugely successful year in 2019, particularly when you remember it was his first season in single-seaters. Not only was Louis very quick out on track but he worked with the team excellently and it is always nice to continue working together when you’ve built up those relationships. Louis is already hard at work preparing for the transition to BRDC British Formula 3 and I’ve no doubt he has another successful year ahead of him.”

Mark Blundell, CEO of MB Partners, is delighted to see the progress that Louis is continuing to make and is glad to see him taking another step forward in 2020.

“It is no mean feat to keep climbing the junior ladder year after year and that is what Louis has continued to show he can do. Stepping up to BRDC British F3 Championship will be a challenge for sure but Louis is, as he always is, very focused and just like it did last year, I’ve no doubt his talent will shine through. Louis made a great impression on the track and around the paddock last year and I’m sure 2020 will be no different.”

After his pre-season testing programme, Foster will be debuting in BRDC British Formula 3 in April (11th-13th) at the BRDC British F3 season opener at Oulton Park.
