Foster Takes Series Leading Pace to Paul Ricard

Louis Foster believes his fastest lap and pole in the Euroformula Open championship at Portimao make him a contender for wins in the championship, as he prepares for the next round at Paul Ricard this weekend.

Foster took pole position in Portugal for the first race of the weekend and finished second in his maiden outing with the CryptoTower Racing Team, supported by Motopark. He added a fastest lap to his weekend haul.

“I was really happy to score pole, it was a good, fun lap,” reflects Foster, who is backed by Copart, a global leader in vehicle remarketing and recycling. “Especially as we hadn’t tested there, so it was less driving off numbers and more driving off feel, which was fun. “Along with the fastest lap, It’s good to know we are competitive and up there, and we have the speed and potential to win races. It’s a confidence boost.”

The second round of the season takes place at Paul Ricard near Marseille, which like Portimao features on the Formula 1 calendar. As Foster is racing in a championship outside of the UK for the first time this year, Paul Ricard is one of many circuits where he isn’t familiar having never raced at the venue before.

But as with the other tracks, Lord Wandsworth College student Foster is hopeful he can overcome the adversity, and Portimao proved his pace.

“I’m looking forward to this round," added Foster. “I’ve never been to Paul Ricard, I’ve been watching onboards and trying to prepare myself in the best way possible. “We may be on the back foot slightly compared to my rivals but I’ll dig deep. “I’m confident I’ll be able to learn the track and get up to speed quickly, and it will be a good measure of my ability to adapt. “I’ve been training hard and I’m ready to get back on the track and build on what we managed last time out at Portimao.”

One of the reasons Foster was able to hit the ground running in the Algarve was not only his immediate speed, but also the help of the CryptoTower Racing Team. It was Foster’s first race with the squad and he immediately felt at home.

“I was very comfortable with the team, it’s a great group of people and we understand each other,” said Foster. “I think we’re beginning to feel more at home with each other and with the experience in the team there’s only going to be more performance to come out of that relationship. “All in all I think the team did a great job at the weekend, so thanks to CryptoTower and Motopark.”
