Foster Ready and Confident for the Challenge at the Historic Spa-Francorchamps Circuit

Updated: Jul 20, 2021

17th June 2021

British driver Louis Foster is full of confidence approaching the Spa-Francorchamps Euroformula Open weekend, having already won at the historic Belgian circuit in the past. CryptoTower Racing Team driver Foster, 17, has already delivered a pole and fastest laps in the season so far, which has been fought over two events in Portugal and France respectively.

It's Foster's first full-season racing outside of the UK. Entering the weekend third in the championship points, Foster has the benefit of knowing he won at this circuit on his series debut last year.

“Spa will be an interesting weekend,” said Foster, who is backed by Copart, a global leader in vehicle remarketing and recycling. “We have had a decent amount of track time there both at pre-season testing and the race last year, which is a change to the previous races on the calendar so far. “I have a lot of confidence going into this weekend as I have previously won at Spa, so I know what it takes.”

Having testing at Spa earlier this year is not to be underestimated as Foster had never driven at either of the first two tracks raced on in Euroformula Open this year. Despite that fact, he has still not finished outside of the top six this season, retiring once. Last year’s Spa race - where Foster won the second race of the weekend, driving for a different team - and then the preparation he was able to do with his Motopark-supported squad will be vital for Foster in stealing a march on the competition. With three races this weekend to make an impact and make headway in the championship, Foster is energised by the opportunity. The Lord Wandsworth College student and Hampshire native has been working hard on his physical conditioning to be ready for the weekend’s action, in order to be prepared to compete at the highest level. Foster has also been working with the CryptoTower Racing Team to analyse the previous weekend at Paul Ricard to find the extra time needed in race trim to overcome the opposition.

This involves looking through data and working with the engineers to convert this information into improvements on the car.
