Championship leader Foster ready for Mid-Ohio challenge

Having won races on the last two permanent road courses on the calendar, points leader Louis Foster is gunning for more glory when the Indy Pro 2000 field heads to Mid-Ohio this weekend.

Exclusive Autosport driver Foster has a winning streak extending to the three previous Indy Pro 2000 tracks, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Lucas Oil Raceway and Road America in what is his first season racing in America. Mid-Ohio is always a driver’s favourite owing to the challenging layout of the twisty circuit south-west of Cleveland.

“The season is past the halfway point now, but the approach remains the same,” says Foster, who is backed by Copart, a global leader in online auto auctions, and Florida-based luxury Italian garden umbrella brand Poggesi.
“We take it race by race. If we do well in each race the championship will take care of itself.
“Mid-Ohio looks like a fun track, and it’s a chance for us to see if our work in lots of different areas as a team over the previous few rounds has come together.
“Continuing to improve how we extract the maximum from the tyre in qualifying has been a constant source of attention for us, so that’ll be interesting to see. It's a new tyre to me - as well as the tracks being new - which provides a special kind of challenge.
“If we start up front, we’re putting ourselves in the best possible position to execute on our race pace which has been fantastic all year.
“Big thanks to Exclusive Autosport for that and all the hard work they are putting in, and to my sponsors for helping to put me in this position."

Foster has a 19-point lead in the championship with nine races remaining including the three at Mid-Ohio this weekend.

“It’s been nice to get a couple of weeks off to prepare for this one,” says Foster.
“As a driver, you always want to be in the car every day, but Toronto follows Mid-Ohio in the calendar quite closely so it’s been good to get that time to work with the team and on my personal prep to be in the best possible shape to do well.”
